Who can see our family?
Only the people in it. There are no public profiles and nothing is searchable from outside — every member is added by someone who already belongs.
Do my relatives need to install an app?
No. Lineage works in the browser on any phone or computer. Elders who'll never sign in can still be in the tree: the founder or a guardian adds them, no phone or email needed.
Why sign in with Google?
So there's no password to forget. Google confirms who you are; from it we keep only your email address. Your contacts, Drive and the rest of your account are never asked for.
Can I belong to more than one family?
Yes — your own family and your spouse's, say. You choose which one to open when you sign in, and can switch any time.
Can we take our data out?
Yes. Settings → Download your family data gives you everyone in the family and how they're connected, as a file on your device. Profile photos aren't in that file yet.
Can I try it before signing up?
Yes. The live demo is a made-up family of 24 people across five generations, with marriages, people in memory and birthdays coming up. Look around as much as you like; nothing you change is saved.
